CAMP DIRECTOR:
PENNY McARTHUR JANOWSKI directed the Florida
State University Auxiliary Camp in Tallahassee, FL for 32 years. While
directing the FSU Camp, Penny felt there was a need for a similar camp
in Central Florida. In 1972 she opened PENNY’S CAMP at Eckerd College
in St. Petersburg, FL Penny played the bassoon in the FSU Concert Band,
served as Head Majorette for the Marching Chiefs her Junior and Senior
years, and has served two terms on the FSU Band Alumni Board. On October
26, 2007, Penny's name was placed on the Florida State University Alumni
Band Wall of Fame. She was selected for this prestigious honor as a result
of attaining significant accomplishments in her field that reflect positively
on FSU and it's band program. On January 9, 2009 Penny was awarded the
2009 Distinguished Service Award by the Florda Music Educator's Association. Her
affiliation with the Florida Bandmasters Association includes serving
as an FBA Auxiliary Judge since 1960, chairman of the Auxiliary Committee
for eleven years, and now currently serving on the FBA Auxiliary Committee
panel for Adjudication Training. In l999 Penny was selected Citizen of
the Year by the City of Largo for her Contribution to the Youth of
Largo. |
